Droid launches on Verizon. Where is Bing Search?

Here is the leak of the Droid page….. As you can see on the right hand side, Droid is launching Google Voice Search.
Was it not so that Microsoft had search exclusivity with Verizon and Bing…. How did this happen?

It is a “Google Experience” phone. Why would it use Bing?

Good point, absolutely….. However it was announced that Bing was supposed to be exclusive across all of Verizon products and they paid Millions for that exclusivity…. I guess there was something missing in the term exclusivity?

In China, China mobile is about to launch quite a bit of product around Android. In that market I heard that Google may not be the default search engine. I guess this is something we need to keep an eye on. Is the term Free and Open really, or are there embedded services that can not be really changed?

This is an Android phone. As in Google Android and the Open Handset Alliance. This is a Google Experience phone. Of course it doesn’t use Bing!!! This is not a phone I am talking about. This is a phone OS. It seems T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon have joined Android. When AT&T lose their exclusivity to the iPhone, Apple’s smartphone empire will probably crumble to pieces (because Androids are cheaper and in my opinion slightly better). Okay i may have gone on a bit.

Sure it’s a Google OS, but isn’t this the same type of bundling of services that go Microsoft in trouble with the FTC. Why isn’t anyone complaining about this. At least with Windows, I can uninstall Internet Explorer. I can’t figure out how to do an internet search without going through Google unless I type bing.com or yahoo.com every single time. Also noticed that when I changed my privacy settings on google search they change back every so often….Not sure I’m liking my new droid phone!
